Adding Electrical Outlets: How to Wire a New Outlet to an Existing One
Power bars are unsightly and who wants extension cords snaking all over the floor? Besides, these can be fire hazards as well as overly attractive to small children. Maybe you are changing the location of the TV or installing an over-the-range microwave, or maybe you bought a new computer desk. Whatever the reason, there isn’t a handy outlet for the equipment and you need one. This is when it becomes necessary to add a new plug-in by wiring it into an existing one. This article will walk you through not only the mechanics of putting a new electrical outlet into the wall, but also running the wire and tapping into the existing circuit. The tools and materials will be discussed as well as the procedures and tips for doing the job in the easiest manner possible.

If you’ve got your own you can get adaptors to convert them. Also the fridge you are hiring will come with continental plug so you will probably need an adaptor for that too. Some have a mixture of both on the same site. You will need a special EHU wire to put into the post on your pitch.
How to Hook Up a Trailer. Failure to hook a trailer up to a hitch correctly can lead to serious damage to your vehicle and the trailer. It also risks an accident to other vehicles around you, should you lose the trailer off the hitch while.
Utility Hook Ups When you are in a camp ground that has either partial hookups usually only water and electric or has full hookups water, electric, and sewer , usually hooking up your utility connections is the next step after levelling your RV. Water Connection Now you are ready for the water connection. First attach the regulator to the water inlet of your RV. Usually hand tightening is enough to stop any leaks. If you are having trouble getting any leaks to stop, possibly the washers are old, worn, or no longer supple.
It is a good idea to be sure that there is a screen-type hose washer on the inlet side of both your water filter and your water regulator at least that is what I do. If any large particles of stuff somehow happen to get into the water source, these screens keep the larger stuff from entering your water filter or water regulator, and eventually plugging them up. None of us enjoy the “surprise” of taking a big gulp of water and feeling something besides cool water going down our throat!
Some folks like to put the water regulator right at the RV site hose bib and then put the water filter up near the RV—this probably is the most prudent way. The idea is to first reduce the water pressure so that the hose doesn’t rupture from too much pressure, but I have never had a problem putting the water pressure regulator on the RV-end of the water hose. If you have trouble stopping a pesky leak, even by using new hose washers, try a “donut washer.
They compress much more easily and pesky leaks easily disappear. Now, attach your water hose to the hose bib at your RV site, and then attach the water filter to the other end the coach end.

Most receivers have either preamp-in and preamp-out connections or tape monitor connections. In most cases, these are the best way to connect an equalizer to your stereo. Connecting to the tape monitor channels will require connection to only your receiver. Learn how to hook up an equalizer to the receiver instead. To run a signal from your stereo receiver to the equalizer and then to your amplifier, you will need 2 sets of RCA cable the same kind that is usually used to connect source components like turntables and CD players.
The length of the RCA cables should match the length of the distance between the receiver and the equalizer.
Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the external hard drive, then connect the opposite end of the cable to the USB port on the television.

I have decided to go with a 7-pin anyway. I never run the fridge off 12V, it doesn’t work very good, and tears the fridge up. It is either , LP, or off. When the dealer installed my Lance camper he ran the 6 or 8 wire from the left front truck battery thru a cut-out relay then to the Lance female connector mounted in the bed on the left front side wall.
There was way too much voltage drop — especially with the long run on a crew cab. To further exacerbate the problem, the dealer connected the Lance negative return power lead to frame ground near the connector! That’s also against the NEC. And installed a negative return to the battery, ditching the dealer’s frame ground. This was overkill for the camper, but I did it because I also added two more RV batteries and have plans for high current radios.
Now, the voltage at the Lance battery in the camper is about where it should be with the refer running from V. The refer pulls about amps in the VDC mode.

A Creative Solution RVers need to carry an assortment of electrical adapters to accommodate the various RV park power pole offerings. Many RVs today are wired for 50 amp service two 50 amp volt for a possible amps. Most RV parks offer 50 amp service either as standard or as an extra cost option. Smaller or older RVs may have only a 30 amp service one 30 amp volts. Most RV park power poles that offer 50 amp service also have a 30 amp outlet.
Older RV parks may only have the 30 amp outlet available. If you are not well versed in household wiring, look at Electrical Basics for some fundamental information. A dual pole circuit breaker is used to break both circuits if either circuit senses an over-current condition. These wires attach to the two outer flat blade contacts.
Trailer Electrical Hook-Up Question
What we did know was that we didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on a battery and solar system until we lived the lifestyle awhile. It took us two years on the road to determine we wanted to upgrade to an electrical system that would allow us to live for about a week at a time two weeks at most without electrical hook-ups. It was never our intent to be serious boondockers, but it takes a pretty good system even to make it a week without having to be really conservative.
We have no problem conserving, but the less we have to do, the better. We knew we could easily hang out for a week on our holding tanks and our fresh water capacity, but our pitiful single house battery was just not cutting it. And we certainly didn’t want to run our generator all the time.
“Christmas trees and bumble bees.” No, it’s not a strange nursery rhyme; it’s how you remember how your phone lines are distributed. On the back of phone jacks, there are usually four connections—one red, one green, one black, and one yellow.
Last week we covered the type of base needed for a hot tub, this week I want to go over what you will need to get your new spa all powered up. We work with a handful of great electricians in the Amesbury and greater North Shore Massachusetts area who do great work and we can match you up with a capable company when you buy your hot tub. Standard Spa Electrical Requirements: Most spas in the industry require the following to run properly.
They generally come with their own pre-wired gfci plug. These types of tubs are only 1 pump usually only 1. In Massachusetts and NH we have a lot of older homes with older electrical setups. Before installation of your new hot tub you should have an electrician check to see if you have a big enough electrical panel to fit a 50amp service. Some older homes may only have a amp panel and may need to be upgraded to a amp panel before the spa can be wired up properly.
The wiring required wiring to the tub is typically 6 or 8 gauge 4 v cable. This consists of 2 hots, a neutral and a ground wire. The hot tub can NOT be wired directly to the inside breaker on your main panel, it must first go to its own outdoor gfi box near the spa.
